What is Angiography and Stenting?

A CORONARY ANGIOGRAM is a special X-ray of the blood vessels of the heart which can show the blockage in the vessel. If the blockage is seen, a special tube can be inserted into the blood vessel to open it.

This process is called CORONARY ANGIOPLASTY. After opening the blood vessel a small mesh wire tube can be inserted into the vessel to keep it open. This is called a STENT.

What is a Holter Monitor?

A Holter monitor is used by your doctor to keep track of your heart rhythm if he thinks you are having a heart rate problems. This device can detect your heart rate and rhythm, when you feel chest pains or have symptoms of an irregular heart beat or feel as if your heart is racing or  “skipping” a beat.  You will be asked to wear a small battery-operated device for 24-hours as you engage in your normal activities. The doctor will remove the monitor when testing is finished and carefully review the results with you.
